Of Stolen Glances and Awkward Gestures

by E. Hellcat

Of stolen glances
and awkward gestures,
I found myself
wondering
what brought us here,
I wish nothing
but for it
to come
anytime sooner.

Now suddenly,
you sit there
quite obviously,
right in front of me.
Is it just me
you’re staring,
or is it just me
noticing
that your eyes
kept lingering,
in sync,
with what
I was thinking.

That every time
you wear black,
you remind me
of a place
I never thought
I’d come back.
Like the boxes
I left downstairs,
never to realize
I’d have to unpack.
Because I’ve forgotten
what is it like,
and how does it feel,
and why
it took
so long
to heal.

Take a shot of me
I wanna show you
my true colors,
it’s a black and white picture,
I’m monotonous.
