The Cowering Farmer

By Shauqi Shiro

Once there was an estate lent to a farmer,
His forefathers told him to make it larger.
They said that this land should be shared together,
He thought he should get it all; he’s the owner.

He planted the seeds, while he paid no heeds.
When the seed bears fruits, he took all the loots.
He soiled the plantation, gave to his family most of the rations.
Now the estate is degrading, the soils are left with nothing.

The seeds have become sour; none wants it during this time of hour.
Bloomed with no flower; all that's left is an image of a cowering farmer.
